Research Reports

  1. A copy must be submitted to iBioMEP annually.
  2. The length of the research report has been increased to a maximum of 5 pages of text, excluding references.
  3. The report should be E-mailed to the iBioMEP coordinator as a pdf file. Please be specific and informative, and avoid redundancies. The writing of the report is not a mere formality; a well-done report is a substantial and necessary part of doctoral studies preceding the dissertation. The research report should include sufficient information needed for evaluation of the project, independent of any other document and include the following:
    1. Title
    2. Summary (1 paragraph) Clear and concise.
    3. Specific aims and timetable (1/2 page) A list of the broad, long-term objectives of the research is sufficient, proposed publications, and the approximate date to achieve the objectives.
    4. Background and significance (1/2 page) Very briefly sketch the background leading to the present research. This section is intended to introduce the reader to the field of research, including the main problems as they are presented in the literature.
    5. Current state of the project (1-2 pages) Summarize the results obtained since the last report, including preliminary results and problems that have been encountered and how they might be solved.
    6. Future plans for the project (1 page) Describe ongoing studies, and discuss forthcoming studies, as well as problem.
    7. National and international activities (1/2 page) What courses have been taken during the year and what courses, workshops, conferences, and research visits are planned. How have the requirements of the official study plan been fulfilled?
    8. Timetable for the thesis When do you expect to complete your Ph.D. studies? Are you encountering any problems that might delay completion? (Studies need to be completed in 4 years).
    9. List of publications of the student
  4. Please deliver a copy of the report to the thesis committee at least a week before the scheduled meeting.
