Lääketieteellisen fysiikan ja tekniikan yhdistys (LFTY) Finnish Society for Medical Physics and Medical Engineering |
The Finnish National Committee for Medical Physics and Medical Engineering operates from the Finnish Society for Medical Physics and Medical Engineering (FSMPME). The committee has members from both FSMPME and the Finnish Association of Medical Physicists in Finland. In Finland the committee represents the following organisations: the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE), the European Alliance for Medical and Biological Engineering & Science (EAMBES), the International Organization for Medical Physics (IOMP), and the European Federation of Organisations in Medical Physics (EFOMP). IFMBE and IOMP are member organisations of the International Union for Physical and Engineering Sciences in Medicine (IUPESM), which has been a member of ICSU since 1999.
IFMBE was founded in 1959 and has 120 000 members from 58 different member organisations. IFMBE supports research and application of knowledge, as well as dissemination of information and collaboration in the fields of medical, biological and clinical engineering. IFMBE also organizes World Congresses and Regional Conferences, publishes the journal Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing (MBEC), conference proceedings, books, and a newsletter.
IOMP was founded in 1963 and has over 18 000 members from 80 different countries. IOMP aims at advance medical physics practice worldwide by disseminating scientific and technical information, fostering the educational and professional development of medical physics and promoting the highest quality medical services for patients.
